Voices of Gay Rodeo

Voices of Gay Rodeo is a digital exhibition that curates selections from the Gay Rodeo Oral History Project to explore key themes in gay rodeo history through data visualization and excerpted narratives. Developed with support from the University of Idaho’s Center for Digital Inquiry and Learning, the exhibition highlights recurring topics across interviews, including community, family, identity, mentorship, religion, race, injury, and dance.

The exhibition presents selected interview excerpts and thematic visualizations drawn from coded transcripts, offering an interpretive entry point into the larger oral history collection. While some interview transcripts are available through the site, many have been edited or redacted as part of the curatorial process. As a result, Voices of Gay Rodeo functions not as a comprehensive archive, but as a thematic and analytical companion to the full Gay Rodeo Oral History Project Archives.
