The Collaboratory seeks a Social Media Manager with Video Editing and Graphic Design Skills to amplify our research activities and connect our audiences to LGBTQ2+ public and digital history projects, creative interventions, and the people behind them.
Responsibilities
– Developing social media content relating to LGBQT2+ oral history for the Collaboratory
– Maintaining a consistent schedule for our social media campaigns
– Collaborating with project team members to devise, pitch, and execute content for Instagram, Twitter, and other related platforms
– Tracking monthly analytics across social media platforms
– Creating and presenting quarterly reports on social media activity
– Archiving posted content in the Collaboratory’s shared drive
– Developing graphic designs and editing video for social media, Intermediate to Advanced Skills on Canva preferred
Qualifications
– Enrolment in post-secondary degree: History, SDS, WGSI, Information Technology, English, or related field
– Passion for the LGBQT2+ past, from an intersectional lens
– Curiosity and creativity for connecting broader publics to historical research
– Experience producing digital campaigns and drafting quarterly and annual reports
– Ability to maintain standards of graphic design and production values for online projects
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with a hyper-virtual project team and diverse public audience
– Developing graphic designs and editing video for social media, Intermediate to Advanced Skills on Canva preferred
– Excellent command of various applications, such as Canva, Instagram and Twitter; willingness to learn in new areas
– Excellent understanding of how to collect and interpret analytics across social media platforms
– Excellent judgment and solid presentation skills
Position Details
The 2023-24 Fall/Winter Work Study Program runs from September 7, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
This is a remote position and can be completed virtually; students from any campus are welcome to apply.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and degree program: $20/hour for undergrads; $25/hour for graduate students.
