This year the Collaboratory has hired two work study students, Guin Kellam (that’s me!) and Oli Bedard. I will be working as the teams Social Media Specialist and Oli is the new Oral History Archivist. This is the first time either of has worked with the Digital Oral History Collaboratory, we are both really excited about the opportunity.
I am a fourth year Sexual Diversity Studies Student, with a background in computer programming and a particular interest in the Digital Humanities. At the beginning of September I took over managing the Collaboratroy website and blog from Cait McKinney (who is now a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University in Montreal). Cait designed the webpage and got this blog started in January of this year before leaving for Montreal. Thank you to Cait who left me with a well designed site to work with! In addition to managing and updating the website and blog I will be posting to our Facebook page and updating our twitter stream. I will also be coordinating a new Collaboratory podcast, watch this blog for more information about that soon!
Oli Bedard is currently working on his undergraduate degree on English and Women & Gender Studies. As the Oral History Archivist for the Collaboratory he will be working with Al Stanton-Hagan and Nick Matte to digitize oral histories from cassette and prepare them for ingestion into the CLGA’s collections management system. Oli will also be assisting in the training and supervision of volunteers at the archive. Oli will be contributing to this blog later on in the fall, so watch this space for more about what he is up to.
