The LGBTQ Oral History Digital Collaboratory seeks a Communications Assistant with Graphic Design Skills to amplify our robust collection of oral histories across our social media platforms.
Responsibilities
Developing social media content relating to LGBQT2+ oral history for the Collaboratory
Maintaining a consistent schedule for our social media campaigns
Collaborating with project team members to devise, pitch, and execute content for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and other related platforms
Batching weekly content in Hootsuite
Tracking monthly analytics across social media platforms
Creating and presenting quarterly reports on social media activity
Archiving posted content in the Collaboratory’s shared drive
Developing graphic designs for social media (Intermediate-Advanced Skills on Canva preferred)
Qualifications
Enrolment in post-secondary degree: History, SDS, WGS, Information Technology, English, or similar experience
Passion for the LGBQT2+ past, from an intersectional lens
Curiosity and creativity for connecting broader publics to historical research
Experience producing digital campaigns and drafting quarterly and annual reports
Ability to maintain standards of graphic design and production values for online projects
Excellent written/verbal communication skills to work with a hyper-virtual team and diverse public audience
Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
Excellent command of Canva, Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube
Excellent understanding of how to collect and interpret analytics across social media platforms
Excellent judgment and solid presentation skills
Position Details
This is a remote position and can be completed virtually; students from any campus are welcome to apply.
The successful applicant will be offered a contract of 200 hours, to be completed over the course of the Fall-Winter Work Study Session (Sept 6 – March 31, 2023).
Salary will be commensurate with experience and degree program: $20/hour (undergrad); $25/hour (graduate).
